Living in Rockhampton, you’ll enjoy around 300 days of sunshine every year. Daytime temperatures typically range from 22-32 degrees during the summer, and 9-23 degrees in winter. Say goodbye to scraping a frosted windscreen or packing an umbrella for three months of the year—the coldest temperature ever recorded in Rockhampton was -1 degree!

Location

Rockhampton is part of the Capricorn region—named after the Tropic of Capricorn, which runs right through the city. The region’s position allows for easy day trips to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, the Capricorn Coast, and ever-popular Great Keppel Island. To the west, you’ll take in gorges, national parks, and eventually continue on towards the red sands of the outback.
