Parks and Sporting Facilities in Gracemere

The Rockhampton Region has a wealth of wonderful parks to explore, and Cedric Archer Park has to be towards the top of the list. There really is something for the whole family, whether it’s the shaded state-of-the-art playground or water play area for the kids, the serenity of the lagoon and zen gardens in the Touch of Paradise precinct, or the skate park and pump track for the adrenalin junkies. The Gracemere Swimming Pool, Gracemere Lake Golf Club, Gracemere Bowls Club and Gracemere Croquet Club are also located conveniently close-by. If you want to experience the sense of community which unites Gracemere, this is the place to be.
Among the 13 parks and open spaces in Gracemere is Springers Lagoon, a natural waterhole on Sullivan Road. With fishing platforms, walkways, picnic tables and plenty of shade, it’s a great place to unwind and take in some fresh air. Be sure to bring binoculars or a camera, as it’s also one of the Region’s top spots for bird watching.

Gracemere Shoppingworld has more than 20 speciality stores
Looking for some retail therapy? You’ll be surprised by how much is on offer. Gracemere Shoppingworld is the main shopping centre in town and brings more than 20 speciality stores under one roof, but make sure you don’t overlook the other retail precincts on Lawrie Street and Middle Road where you’ll find welcoming and friendly locals eager to help.
By this point, you’re probably ready to put your feet up and grab some lunch. The Gracemere Hotel dates back to the 1800s and was the first building in town to be connected to electricity. The passionate owners keep the sparks alive today, offering a menu of pub classics (and a few surprises) and live music every Saturday. In the shopping precincts you’ll also find a bakery, cafes and coffee shops, pizza shops, Chinese takeaway, fish and chips and more.

To close the book on your exploration, pay a visit to the Gracemere Library. Open Monday to Thursday and every other Saturday, the team delivers a diverse range of free activities including craft, fitness, social connections, origami and children’s read and play sessions. Of course, Rockhampton Region residents can borrow a range of books, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs – and if there’s something you can’t find the staff will be more than happy to help.
