Our CBD area, running along the Fitzroy River. Featuring a mix of inner city apartments and older style workers cottages and Queenslander homes. Apartment living in the city is predominantly along the riverbank in one of 6 modern high-rise complexes, or through a scattering of converted warehouse apartments in our iconic heritage listed buildings. City Centre Plaza is a major shopping centre on Southside within the CBD area, featuring Coles and Target, along with a hub of business activity.
Enjoy stunning views of the Fitzroy River and Berserker Ranges in a low maintenance cosmopolitan lifestyle popular with professionals, singles and couples. Median price for apartments is $437,231, with rent $350 per week. By comparison, housing in Rockhampton City provides the same conveniences, but is much more modest in pricing with median house pricing at $208,500 and rent $250 per week. Homes are typically older style, on small block sizes with little to no elevation and home to older residents and young singles.
Undoubtedly Rockhampton’s most prestigious address, with the gorgeous Queenslanders and homes which date back to the 1800s Mount Morgan gold rush era when our region was the wealthiest in the country. Mixed in with these palatial homes are more modern Queenslanders, all designed to capture the breezes that come with living in this elevated area of the city.
The Range is popular with families and professionals, with two of the major hospitals and primary and secondary Grammar schools in its boundaries. The Range is also home to our iconic Botanical Gardens and Zoo. Crossing borders with The Range to the north, Allenstown offers more reasonably priced homes with a mix of families and young singles. Low maintenance homes, flat and slightly smaller housing blocks make it also popular for seniors. One of our major shopping precincts, including Woolworths lies in the suburb as well as primary schools and childcare centres. Median house price in the area is $252,500 and rent $280 per week.
Neighbouring The Range with North Street and the Rockhampton Base hospital dividing the two suburbs. You’ll find a mixture of larger and more luxurious colonial homes on the higher parts the feature alongside lowset workers cottages and homes on the flatter areas. The lower end of the suburb lays parallel to the Fitzroy River and hosts a variety of sporting grounds and our Olympic pool facility.
Within its boundaries you’ll find primary and secondary schools, as well as the Rockhampton Showgrounds; home to the annual show and the triennial Beef Australia Expo just to name a few. The suburb is popular with older couples, families and younger couples keen on renovating! Median house price is $299,000, with rent $290 per week.
Lying behind The Range and Wandal and adjacent to the Rockhampton Airport. Enjoy rural views west if you are on a sloping block, amazing sunsets and larger block sizes in this area. Featuring a primary school and kindergarten, West Rockhampton is popular with families and first home buyers with a very reasonable median house price $242,000 and rent $280 per week.
Lies 1km south of the CBD, and despite its ‘hilly’ name it is actually one of the lowest lying areas in the city. The area offers our cheapest property prices, but be sure to check local flood maps before purchasing. Properties are a mix of lowset and highset workers cottages or block sizes under 500sqm. There is a primary school and its close location to the CBD and river makes it popular for older couples and families with median house pricing at $123,750 and rent $240 per week.
Running along the north side of the river, characterized by a mixture of lowset and highset workers cottages and Queenslanders. The flat lying area is popular with families and mature couples and singles, being in close proximity to major shopping centres and featuring public catholic primary schools. Median house price is $254,000 with rent $280.
Adjoins Park Avenue to the north, featuring more modern brick housing and a mixture industrial areas with residential. Kawana is popular with older couples and families, with a high school and primary school, and close proximity to the university. Median house price is $287,500 with rent $315
Also runs along the north side of the river and is characterized by a mixture of lowset and highset workers cottages and Queenslanders. The flat lying area is popular with families and mature couples and singles, being in close proximity to major shopping centres and primary schools. The area offers our cheapest property prices on the north side, but be sure to check local flood maps before purchasing as a small number of properties are prone to flooding. Close proximity to the race course has some properties featuring large blocks that include stables. Median house price is $220,000 and rent $270.
Offering quiet cul-de-sac living in private estates and elevated blocks that capture the mountain breeze backing onto the Berserker ranges. Houses are predominantly modern low set brick. Featuring private and public schools, shopping precincts and the university, this suburb is popular with families and older couples. Median prices are $415,000, with rent $380.
Named for Anthelme Thozet, first director of the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens in the 1860s. The area was completely rural in character until the late 1960s, with suburban development rapidly taking place after that. Housing is predominantly low and high set brick homes of the 70s and 80s, and is popular with older couples and families. Featuring primary schools, plenty of parks and walking tracks with large housing blocks and homes closer to Mount Archer. Median house price is $319,000, with rent $320.
Koongal and Lakes Creek
Backing onto the river going south east, and Mount Archer ranges to the north. Featuring a mixture of lowset brick homes and workers cottages, this quiet area is popular with older couples and families. Median house prices are $225,000, with rent $290.
Located on the Bruce Highway north of the city. Parkhurst offers larger blocks and acreages, a primary school and soon to be built shopping precinct. Popular with couples and families with median prices $340,000 and rent $350.
This township is approximately 10 kilometres off the Bruce Highway, west of Rockhampton. Most residents commute the short distance to work in the city or further west to mining and industrial hubs. Gracemere is a popular choice for young families in particular, as it has public and catholic primary schools and multiple childcare centres. Housing is typically more modern brick homes, with most built in the last 30 years. The quieter lifestyle also attracts older couples as it has access to all amenities the city offers, including a shopping precinct with Woolworths. Median house prices are $330,000 with rent $310 per week.
In it’s heyday, Mount Morgan was a thriving town, founded off the back of the establishment of the gold mine. Only a 30 minute drive from Rockhampton, you can pick up all your essentials in the historical main street, Morgan Street. With small and larger blocks of land on offer, you’ll find timber house or miners cottage to suit your needs. Mount Morgan has one primary school, a high school, a hospital fantastic recreational facilities and access to medical services.
Alton Downs, Bajool, Bouldercombe, Gogango, Marmor, Stanwell, Ridgelands, Westwood
